You know you love it

Full disclosure - I have read all four installments of The Black Room and will be leaving similar reviews for all parts. I began reading this after falling in love with his novel, "The Stone Man."
First, the good, the great, the perfect: Writing doesn't get any better than this. Developed characters, twists and turns, originality; I could go on all day. Luke Smitherd has the ability to develop a sense of so much more going on in the background, without the feeling that you're missing out on anything that isn't written. Such a sense of depth; it feels like life (just a "bit" more exciting!) I am officially a fan; I will be purchasing everything he has written; yes, I am a Smithereen.
Now, the ugly, and I know you're reading this, Mr. Smitherd, so take note! I hate, hate, hate the installment concept. I understand your economic/suspense-building motivation, but it seems like a cheap parlor (parlour to you, sir) trick, and you're better than that. Hopefully you've built up enough of a fan base that you don't need to resort to these measures again (I know, I know, like Stephen King doesn't have a fan base). Well, guess what, you're better than him. I can't threaten not to purchase your work if you go all series on us again; that would be a blatant lie. I'm hooked. Thanks for the great read.
(Sorry again, this one's a four star only because of the installment bit. Yes, I hate it that much. And this section seemed really short. Fantastic, suspenseful ending, though.)

A worthy follow-up to The Stone Man

I have now read all four parts, so I'll post this review for all of them. I hope it's OK to post the same review four times. It's all one book. I'm glad I didn't get part one, until all four parts were released. After finishing each one, I immediately signed back into the Amazon store on my Kindle and bought the next one. I wouldn't have wanted to wait (I just finished reading all the Game of Thrones books, and have now joined the millions who are waiting for book six--I should have waited a few more years before beginning them!) This is another creative, imaginative story, that is thought-provoking and quite suspenseful at the same time. Smitherd is developing an easy conversational style, that keeps the reader moving forwards. You can see some of the same general ideas between the two books (the Stone Man and this one), specifically having to do with the human brain. I suspect that there is a lot more to come from Smitherd. I'm looking forward to it.

I can't stop reading this series. Part 3 ~ loaded with twists and turns you won't see coming. Leaving me breathless and my heart racing. An awesome read from start to finish.
