Five stars--no doubt!

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, but it didn't take long to realize that this is an engaging, life-changing kind of book. I must've highlighted fifty different things. The author shares his unique insights and a number of fantastic quotes from other leaders. (Example: “I wasn’t a great communicator, but I communicated great things and they didn’t spring full bloom from my brow, they came from the heart of a great nation.” Ronald Reagan) And beyond the quotes and insights, the author's good-heartedness and love for people shines through on every page.

The Best Self-Coaching Guide You Will Find

Seriously. This book is the best if you want to motivate yourself to be better in all aspects of your life. It can really change the way you think and act. If you follow the activities in each chapter, you will quickly see change in your day to day life. The main points that you will take out of reading this book are:
1. The world is what you think it is.
2. Well being does not come from what you do; it is the essence of what you are.
3. There is nowhere to get to.
4. What you decide will never impact your life as much as how you handle the consequences of that decision.
5. Every emotion you experience is a direct result of a thought, not the world around you.
7. You create other people by how you listen to them.
8. You can ask anyone for anything when you make it okay with them saying "no".
9. Everything you do ( or don't do) is a choice.
10. Clarity, structure, and boldness underpin every time-management system in the world.

Even though I have outlined the main points, it is truly worth reading the book. It is very well written, funny and uplifting.

This is way beyond a book on coaching

Every once in a while you come across a book that can transform your life - every once in a loooooong while. This is one such book. On the face of it, this seems unlikely since the production quality is bad and the layout is not very appealing. But please do go beyond getting hung up on this because what is inside is pure gold.

On a superficial level this is a book by a successful coach who will help you become successful yourself by giving you a set of tools that really work. On this level it delivers well. But there is a deeper level. At this level, it changes how you view the world and actually becomes a vehicle for profound personal transformation. For example, in one of the chapters he talks about how you should strive to have an average day. There is method behind his madness. If you always strive to be exceptional and have a super day and every one tries to do the same then what is exceptional and super today quickly becomes commonplace and the level of stress goes up exponentially. If, on the other hand, you define what you would consider an average day in terms of what you want to accomplish in reaching your goals and actually do what that entails, you will quickly realize that you are producing 6 sigma results with little stress and much joy. On a deeper level, which he does not explicitly mention but the discerning reader can pick up, trying for an average day is a tool for subjugating the ego which is a necessity for spiritual progress and proclaimed so in many traditions.

This is true of every chapter. There are multiple layers, like an onion, and you gt to decide how many layers you will peel. I suspect that if you read it again, you will discover more layers on your own. Like Alice, you get to decide how deep you want to go down the rabbit hole.

This is not a book to be read. It is a work to be experienced. If you get it and do the exercises and follow the tips, you will not be the same person who started on the journey and will be much more at peace with yourself.

creating changes within you and first of all transforming your life

This book is amazing and the third I read from Michael. Again it is a great mixture of stories, tips, experiments to explore for yourself and the really joyful experience of reading this book and enjoying the smiles this book will inevitable bring to your face. If you are looking for an oh-so-serious-and-you-have-to-work-on-yourself-very-hard-book you might be disappointed for this book is simply fun! You'll be transformed and will have fun while doing so. It is effortless! In session one you are asked to write down some of your beliefs around life, yourself, people, money and happiness. I am still amazed about how profoundly these beliefs were changed after reading this book and it simply didn't feel like working but like having fun!
For me each of the ten sessions had the right length so I could read them easily and follow along with the experiments. I loved doing them and share them with friends. The style of writing is wonderful! It's just as if you were sitting in opposite chairs and had a long meaningful conversation. I love it and keep coming back to it to re-read certain pages or re-do certain experiments and find renewed inspiration or/and feeling as if I understand sessions more deeply. I am glad it transformed my life and I can already see the infectious way happiness is spreading within the circle of my friends! And that's great to see! Thanks for this amazing book!

Nice study with lots of practical applications

Our Ladies' Bible Study group is really enjoying this study. The authors' styles are complementary and the format encourages good discussion. The book includes a page for prayers and notes with each study, and a leader's guide at the back. The list of 10 biblical women the authors chose to highlight is a bit different from those we typically encounter, and they discuss the successes as well as their failings and how their lives impacted others. Lots to think about.

That being said, David Busch's Nikon P7700 Guide to Digital Photography is the manual that we all wish came with the camera, but didn't. Open the pages of this 332-page book and you'll see that the difference between this and the original Nikon documentation is vast, and it's backed up with excellent color photos, diagrams and illustrations throughout.

Authors David Busch and Peter K. Burian have delved into the inner workings of the P7700 and presented us with a guide that's written in everyday language, easy to read, yet going into enough depth to offer even the most technically astute advanced user a fast track on how to use this camera.

As noted earlier, the extent of the information between the covers is broad, yet well organized. Within each of the chapters there's enough to get the new user started, yet for those of us who ventured into the P7700 soon after it was released, there's enough here to find something new that hasn't been tried before.

As in the other books from David Busch, the glossary is well done, and even for those who think that they understand the terminology, there may be some interesting terms that are clarified. The index is also done very well, and to a depth that that this reader and photographer wishes that other authors would emulate. The authors had collaborated before with the earlier David Busch's Nikon Coolpix P7100 Guide to Digital Photography, but as informative as that title was, this one is even better, as if they have taken things to a higher level in their way of explaining things. Inside the covers you'll find a real roadmap to the Nikon P7700, a complete coverage of the controls and features done in a very readable and succinct fashion. As you move on, you'll delve into shooting techniques, from basic to advanced, and HDTV movie-making with this camera are covered as well.

As a reader, I was first introduced to the author with David Busch's Nikon D5000 Guide to Digital SLR Photography in 2009 after I had that camera for a few months. I had gone through the Nikon manual trying to figure out why I was having shutter lag, and within a few minutes I found the solution. I ended up reading it cover to cover, and it made life with my then-new D5000 a lot easier. This book on the Coolpix P7700 does it all in a smoother and more refined way.

Among the topics covered here are some excellent discussions on the various SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards, and the author goes so far as to suggest specific types, sizes and even brands that have proven to work well with the P7700, and why. For this user, I could have saved more than the cost of this book with my own SD card experiments, as the original Nikon manual barely touches the subject except to say what is compatible. Also covered are the author's experiences with memory card readers on both the Mac and the PC, and I concur with the issues found on my own MacBook Pro.

There's a lot of good info here, and the book includes a very helpful a troubleshooting guide, and lets face is: eventually some small problems will show up. And within the information in this guide is a discussion on the Nikon EN-EL14 Li-Ion battery, right there in the first chapter. Just read it and follow the author's expertise on this, as he's 100% correct when it comes to the P7700.

Summary:

It's all too easy to say that David Busch's Nikon P7700 Guide is the book that Nikon should have included with the camera, but they didn't. If you're new to the P7700, before you buy a case, some small bundled accessory kit, or a spare battery from a third-party reseller that may not work (and yes, that's in the book), save your money and buy this book; you'll be glad that you did. If you're an experienced shooter and already think you have mastered the P7700, you'll probably find some pleasant surprises between the covers of this book. As you might have guessed, this one is highly recommended to Nikon P7700 owners, regardless if your level of expertise; a true essential to put it simply. You can get your other accessories later.

I have read the P7700 guide by David Busch and it is wonderful! The Nikon owner's manual tells you how to use the camera. David Busch tells you how to use the many great functions of the camera and why. He also includes a lot of great recommendations in the book. If you own a P7700, this is a must own book because the P7700 will do a LOT of things and it is different from the P7000 and the P7100. I highly recommend the book!

Don't buy the ebook

I have gotten some new ideas and insights from this book even though I have had my P7700 for over six months and have studied the included Nikon manual pretty extensively. For anyone who is new to the camera, I would definitely recommend getting this book to use in place of the manual. The information is much easier to access and understand; and this is more than just a "how to" book and contains all sorts of good tips on making the most of this neat, complex camera.

I bought the ebook version for use with the kindle app on my iPad. I wish I had gotten the paper copy. This is a book that would be great to flip around in, and also the ebook illustrations are poor - very small and they become fuzzy when enlarged at all.

Edit-I have now discovered that the index in this ebook is worthless. You can't click on the entries, and no page numbers are given. A reference manual with no index is not acceptable, and I feel cheated.

Edit again - Because of the index problem, Amazon allowed me to return the Kindle edition(past the 7-day mark), and I reordered the paper one. It is here now and I would give it five stars if I could, and maybe two stars for the ebook. I was told that the index problem may be fixed soon - unclear whether they would be able to update one you have already purchased.

The book also reinterprets the rise of giant corporations, especially International Harvester Corporation (IHC), arguing that mass production was achieved in Chicago in the 1880s, where unprecedented urban growth made possible a break with the constraints felt elsewhere in the dispersed production system. It unleashed an unchecked competitive market economy with destructive tendencies throughout the transnational 'American reaper' networks; a previously stable and expanding production system. This is significant because the rise of corporate capital in this industry is usually explained as an outworking of national natural advantage, as an ingenious harnessing of science and technology to solve production problems, and as a rational solution to the problems associated with the worst forms of unregulated competition that emerged as independent firms developed from small-scale, artisanal production to large-scale manufacturers, on their own and within the separate and isolated US economy.

My daughter loves Doc McStuffins and we make a habit of reading. When first purchased we read it daily, i think now that i'm reviewing we need to read this book again. Looks like i know what we will be reading for the next couple of nights.
